The formation of Ca-rich phases in the system CaO (Fe2O3 - K2O)- Al2O3 - SiO2 from the dust of the electrostatic precipitators of a cement factory provided a practical use of this industrial waste. The investigation on the preparation of Cs, C2s, C3s, C2AS and CAS2 phases (normal cement notation is used for the phases) from the dust was carried out. The phase analysis was assessed through XRD analysis of the bodies prepared at different temperatures. The linear thermal expansion of these bodies was measured. A strong correlation was established between the mineral structure of the bodies, their firing temperature, their CaO content and their thermal expansion values.
