This publication deals with "Recommendations for the lighting of swimming pools" which have been drawn up by the Committee for Sports lighting of the Netherlands Institution for Illuminating Engineering. After a general introduction on the function of the lighting of swimming pools, the advantages and disadvantages of the daylight provisions are discussed and with regard to artifical lighting brightness ratios and the direction of the light, illuminance, and the colour of the light colour rendering are dealt with. Light sources and fittings which may come into consideration are mentioned.
