Wastewater treatment by reverse osmosis
Recycled use of water is a major challenge that must be met in achieving environmental conservation and effective utilization of resources. This report deals with the reverse osmosis process, which is an important means that enables wastewater to be used repeatedly. Discussed specifically are methods to prevent scale on membrane a most critical problem in applying this process to wastewater treatment. Some investigated results of a reverse osmosis unit to a reuse of wastewater are presented. Regarding the scale prevention methods, we made a basic study of fouling matter and tested variouys cleaning methods, thereby establishing an automatic continuous ball cleaning system which permits membrane cleaning during operation. This system was operated cont inously for 1.500 hours to demonstrate its functions and reliability.
