Earthquake observation in NTT
NTT has carried out earthquake observations in order to protect telecommunications buildings and facilities from earthquake disasters, and to improve the reliability of antiseismic design methods, based on actual earthquake records. As of March 1976, NTT has 101 'SMAC' type accelerographs installed in 39 telephone office buildings and other locations. This number is equal to one tenth of the total installations in Japan. This paper describes the progress of strong-motion earthquake observation and some studies on earthquake records in NTT.
