Optimal control of sewage and rain pumps based on influent flow predicition
To successfully operate sewage and rain pumps on a combined sewer line with large variation of influent flow, the following two models were developed: an influent flow prediction model: From rainfall volume and past influent flows, influent flows of up to one hour ahead is estimated by the multiple regression analysis technique. A Scheduling model for quasi-optimum pump operation: This model is used to obtain a curve for optimum pump operation that passes the band area determined from predicted influent flows, high and low water levels of the suction well, and stored volume in the sewer, and that requires a low start-stop frequency and energy consumption.
