Hierarchical structure for flood control in a multireservoir system-case study results
A hierarchical control structure for real-time flood control in a multireservoir system is presented. Reservoir operators are using decision rules based upon their local information and upon a set of parameters of local control laws as specified by a central authority. These parameters are periodically adjusted by taking into account at a central level the current forecasts of inflows as well as the dynamics of the system of reservoirs and river reaches. The simulation results related to an application of the control structure to a given case study multireservoir system are provided.
