Infrared spectroscopy research of cementing materials
Investigations of thermal hydrated clinkers have shown that at temperatures of Ca(OH)2 dissociation hydrated silicates undergo decomposition as well, hence thermal methods provide unprecise quantitative definites of calcium hydroxide. For this reason absorption infrared spectroscopy has been used in this work for investigation of clinkers and aluminate phase (C3A), which is one of main phases consisting clinker. Absence of coincidence for absorption band at 2.747 micrometer, deriving of valency vibrations for OH(-) groups of calcium hydroxide in infrared spectrum for hydrated clinker with absorption bands for other phases of clinker hydrated made possible utilizing intensity of the band above for quantitative estimation of amount of calcium hydroxide which is formed in hydration process of clinker. Quantity of hydroxide coming into existence makes possible estimate of stage of hydration process for silicate phases in clinker during initial hydration period.
