Concrete poles can be a viable option
Interest in the use of concrete poles for transmission and distribution circuits usually increases in direct proportion to the scarcity of wood poles. In certain areas, their use can be both aesthetically and economically attractive. Florida Power & Light Co first began using prestressed-concrete poles in 1961, with about 100 30-ft poles for street-lighting circuits in downtown Miami. They were used there because they were aesthetically compatible with their environment.
