Optimum controls on final sewage treatment plant-dissolved oxygen concentration controls in aeration tanks
In order to dissolve oxygen into the water, air is injected into the aeration tanks by means of various types of diffusing equipment. The volume of injected air generally amounts to about 5 to 8 times that of the influent water. The dissolved oxygen concentration is generally controlled at 2 to 4mg/l when dissolved oxygen meters are installed in proper positions within the aeration tank for the cascade control of air volume in accordance with output signals from these oxygen meters. The principle of constant dissolved oxygen control is described.
