Housed on the compartmented ground floor are the main reception and display areas, lecture theatre, library, centralised administration services, restaurant and coffee areas. An open plan design was chosen for most of the first and second floors with small areas of compartmented offices and will contain the board's engineering, planning, operations, secretarial and finance departments. The electrical supply for the building is provided by an h.v. substation located in the basement and fed from the local 11 kV North Eastern EB network. Total capacity is about 2 MW.
