In many utility service areas, manufactured homes are an important factor in the housing market. But only about one manufactured home in four uses a sheathing board to reduce air-infiltration losses. This study shows that sheathing board cuts these losses almost in half, and that caulking and aluminium skirting have minimal impact on the amount of energy needed for space conditioning.
