Aseismic ability evaluation method for existing telecommunication buildings and its application
Japanese Building Standard Laws for seismic design were revised in 1971 and 1981. It was pointed out that buildings constructed before the 1971 code revision would suffer large scaled damage when subjected to earthquakes. These revisions adopted results of investigations and study on recent earthquake damages. It is natural that aseismic ability for each building be different, even if it satisfies the unified seismic design code. Therefore, it is necessary to determine which buildings may have insufficient aseismic ability and to reinforce the building structure. This paper describes an aseismic ability evaluation method for telecommunication buildings and its application.
