Environmental management planning for dams and hydro schemes
Discussions on how to minimize the negative impact on the environment of dams, hydro plants and tidal power schemes formed part of a recent conference on environmental management planning in the mining and energy industries. Although many adverse effects on the environment were shown to be associated with large-scale projects, examples were also given of mitigation measures and incentive schemes for environmental enhancement.
