A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
The first commercially acceptable epoxy coating of reinforcing steel was done in the summer of 1973 in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for a bridge deck in the Philadelphia area. Since then almost 50 million lineal feet of rebar has been coated around the country. The Federal Highway Administration in their search for better products for bridge decks was influential in the testing and development of epoxy coating for rebars.
