Problems in the modification and analysis of space trusses
This paper reports an empirical study of the elastic and inelastic behaviour of several commonly used parallel chord space truss configurations. Earlier conclusions about the use of symmetry in analysis and of additional members to improve the structural performance of these configurations were tested. When inelastic behaviour is permitted additoinal care is required in modifying the square on diagonal configuration and joint rigidity may be required.
