Fatigue requirements for bridges and methods to improve fatigue strength
The fatigue strength of several as-welded details was evaluated to determine the significance of stress, detail, type of steel and quality of fabrication. Specification provisions based on stress range alone were derived from these studies. Several methods to improve retrofit fatigue damaged details were also evaluated.
