Heavy plate of quenched and tempered steel with 80 kg/mm2 tensile strength
Quenched and tempered high tensile strength steel plates with large thickness are now widely used for civil engineering structures such as long span bridges, penstocks, and industrial machines. Good weldability, high notch toughness, and homogeneous mechanical properties in the thickness direction are required for these plates. This paper describes fundamental experiments, manufacturing process, and mechanical properties of HT-80 heavy plates for Osaka Harbor Bridge in Japan. (Buehn)
