Reaction of ozone with trace organics in a pressurized bubble column
Ozonation as a water purification method is widely applied. This study, however, is concentrated on the feasibility and possibility of using at elevated pressures for this purpose. To this end an ozone gas mix at a ratio of 2,25 percent by weight was compressed to 791 kPa and injected into a bubble column. Trials were run with pollution of different organic matters with varying successes. In some cases elevated pressure appeared to be benefical yet such pressures by themselves had not measurable effect on resistant solutes as acetic acid and acetone. In such cases elevated pressure had to be combined with higher pH values. (de Posamentier)
