A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Traditional water-based ceramic tile adhesives have been based either on a polymer latex, with little or no water resistance, or on hydraulic materials with good water resistance but without the ease of use of the latex-based materials. Research into newer polymer types has led to the development of latex systems which retain the convenience of ready-mixed systems but with the water resistance of hydraulic materials. After outlining the specifications and test methods, details are given of formulation parameters and their effect on water resistance.
