A finnish low energy house
A newly built finnish experimental low energy house is analysed on energy losses and savings through the better insulation than demanded by regulations (50 % lower energy loss). With electrical heating system, heat pump, heat recovery of exhaust air and thermosyphon heat recovery of waste water the house needs total a electrical energy of 45 GJ/year, which is nearly half that of a classically built house. Investment cost analysis has shown, that considering the low electrical energy cost for heating in Finland, the payback periods of 10 years (for heat pump exhaust air heat recycling system) to 30 years (for thermosyphon water energy recycling) can be expected, which makes such systems not economically justified. The greatest savings can be achieved by good thermal insulation. (Jarc)
