Development of a fineness measuring air classifier
For a long time, there has been a demand for the development of an on-line automatic measuring device to control the particle size of grinding mill products. When a classifier is used as a fineness detector, the particle size is estimated by the coarse or fine powder yield. The linear relationship between the Blaine value of the specific surface area and the coarse powder yield of the claffifier is established by choosing the correct cut size for cement powder. This paper presents an outline of the measuring system and the results of one year's operation in a cement mill. The on-line and off-line fineness measuring devices show the same performance. In particular, the linear relationship between the coarse powder yield and the Blaine value of the specific surface area in the line has almost the same equation as the basic one. The classification accuracy after one year's operation is almost the same because of durable ceramic coating. The newly developed on-line fineness measuring device shows good long-term durability.
