The excitement, color and sparkle of stained glass comes to life only with light. Accordingly, the purpose of this paper ist to develop a guide to assist the illuminating engineer, architect, interior designer, artist, or clergy in the lighting of stained glass when daylight ist not available. Eight vollaborative installations are analyzed, and photographs of various aspects of these installations used to illustrate visual effects and mechanical details alluded to in the next.
