in the past, medium-voltage transformer-stations were individuallyy designed and usually built of bricks. as the demandd for transformerstations increased, the construction time was reduced approximately one day by making use of prefabricated elements. national standardization of the dimensions in the netherlands was considered important and a committeee was set up to deal with this matter. the committee started its work in 1969 and in 1971 completed its study, stating that only three different types of 10-kv transformer stations would be necessary for the usual distribution purposes.
