Installing paving synthetics - overview of correct installation procedure (part two)

A manual installation crew consists of a tack-coat truck driver and numerous labourers. With mechanised installation, only to or three workers to load rolls, broom edges, and cut wrinkles are necessary. Manual placement involves hand-rolling the synthetic and using five to seven workers to broom it in place. Various installation equipment for synthetic ranges from simple home-made items to sophisticated patented units. The width of the material should be considered. Some machines can be mounted directly onto the tractor's loader arms. To begin, workers cut the wrapper along the roll. Light pressure is all that is needed to avoid slitting the material. For machine installation, load the roll into the cones, pull the synthetic down, stretching it under the brushes, and place it in the tack. Different equipment installs fabric at different speeds. Equipment on large horse-power tractors and behind oil trucks can install around curves almost wrinkle-free. Wrinkles and overlaps can cause cracks in the new overlay if not properly handled during the construction process. Paving multiple lanes has inherent installation problems. It is best to install in one lane and pave it for traffic prior to installing other lane.
