Monitoring of concrete bridges with long-gage fiber optic sensors
In 1997, the Versoix Bridge near Geneva was instrumented with more than 100 low-coherence fiber optic deformation sensors. To enlarge the bridge, the beams were widened and the overhang extended. This approach proved to be significant for the bridge. In view of this, the same methodology was also applied to the Lutrive Highway Bridge in Switzerland to measure the variation in vertical bridge displacements due to a static load test.
