SSH design addresses technical hurdles against super-high-risers
Shimizu Corp., Japan, has designed a prototype structure named Shimizu Super highrise (SSH) that addresses technical difficulties in developing super-high-rise buildings. The design calls for the height of 550 meters, underground and above ground structures, 100 local elevator units and 13 double-deck shuttle elevator units with the potential for escalator use. Computer analysis and data has given rise to an innovative design with systems incorporated to cover the transportation, safety, disaster, comfort and building sway needs. Typical floors of the prototype place living and working spaces along the external walls. The system provides for occupation even if construction continues. The roof of this mixed-use building contains space for a heliport.
