Transportable analysers of odorizing products: Evaluation of 3 chromatographs
The purpose of this paper is to present the conditions and results of the evaluation tests of 3 odorant product analysers: 1) 2 chromatographs with electrochemical detection, the Airmomedor from the French company Chromato Sud and the Odor on line from the German company Axel Semrau, and finally 2) a micro-chromatograph equipped with a thermal conductivity detector, the CP2002P from the Dutch company Chrompack. The tests were carried out in the laboratories of the Research and Development Division of Gaz de France. The aim of this work was to compare the technical characteristics of these analysers to the requirements ratified by all the GERG project participants. The main conclusions are the quite good analytical performance of the 2 electrochemical detection analysers to measure mercaptans and the THT (tetrahydrothiofene) under specific conditions (calibration, no sulfides, low methanol concentration and so on), the unsuitability of the present Airmomedor integration software and finally the interes to use the CP2002P as portable analyser to measure the THT content in natural gas under specific conditions (calibration, concentration range).
