Charles de Gaulle Etoile metro station in Paris
The Regie Autonome des Transports Parisiens (RATP) planned to use innovative equipment in addition to the existing escalators, at the Charles de Gaulle Etoile metro station, for the benefits of disabled persons. POMA-Otis engineering department suggested an inclined elevator with two landings, in which chassis frame supported all the equipment including the lift shade side panels, drive motors and emergency stairs. The elevator car was placed on a trolley, which ran on guide rails attached to the frame. In this case the operator could access the elevator car easily via a stairway built in to the support frame even if the elevator car was stopped midway between the two levels.
