Study of abrasion resistance is an important aspect of fiber reinforced polymer composites.There are few researches about abrasion resistance for fiber reinforced cement (FRC) composites which are vital in their applications such as highways, jet runways and bridge pavements. The adding of fibers may improve the abrasion reisstance of the cement. An abrasion resistance test program which is applicable to fiber/cement composites has been presented in this paper, and an investigation of abrasion resistance at different components and technological parameters is discussed. The PP fiber should be processed surface modification to improve the adherence with cement matrix. The modified fiber has a strong adherence with cement matrix and the adding of fiber can improve the performance of cement abrasion resistance. The mechanism of improvement may result from the following: The bonding between fiber and cement crack; the binding between fiber and separated cement clot; the consumption of friction work when fibers being pulled out from cement matrix.
