Geogrids subgrade stabilization saves time and expense
In Euclid (USA), a major 'Big Box' retailer contracted with a local developer to construct a new store on a site that was previously developed as a residential housing area. The developer was responsible for razing and wasting the existing structures from the site. After this, an acceptable bearing capacity of the underground had to be created. The preferred method of soil stabilization was the installation of Tensar BX-1100 biaxial geogrid. Utilization of the stiff geogrid, lightweight fabric, and recycled concrete aggregate to stabilize the subgrade for this project resulted in significant cost and time savings. Due to the use of the geogrid system, the foundation excavations and placement of floor slab aggregate base material could all be performed consecutively, and in some instances, resulted in substantial time savings to the overall project schedule.
