Hydrous fire resistant hydraulic fluids have been used successfully for years as pressure transmitting medium in fire hazardous sectors of underground and surface working. Oil-in-water emulsions and/or synthetic HFA products are produced from a HFA concentrate and water. According to the operation or plant system the percentage of the HFA concentration can be different. As for the application fluid the water part is generally over 90 %. Aqueous polymer products (HFC hydraulic fluids) contain until 50 % water. This water part is responsible for the fire resistance of this product. These fluids have to be tested before use. The corrosion protection and other parameters are required regarding to the Luxemburg report. Important is the matter of ecology and working hygiene to be met. In order to guarantee a trouble-free production, the used hydraulic fluids must be regularly controlled and the maintenance measures must be taken if necessary.
