In situ observation of hydrating cement-clinker-phases by means of confocal scanning microscopy - first results
In this paper a new in-situ method for pursuing the hydration of cement with confocal scanning microscopy (CSM) is presented. The hydration of the system 3CaO-Al2O3-Ca(OH)2-(CaSO4)-H2O with and without CaSO4 was investigated. The advantage of the CSM is the simple sample preparation and the simple handling. It is possible to get a rapid three dimensional image for structures larger than 5 micrometer with numerous possible adaptations of eth experimental conditions to represent a realistic environment. The imaging method is limited to record surfaces for not transparent samples.
