Bond in high-strength concrete - influence of the rebar position
Because of its favourable hardened concrete properties and its durability efficiency, high-performance concrete (HPC) has a high production-engineering, economic and architectural-design potential, so it is of high interest for practical construction work. High-performance or high-strength concrete is undoubtedly an engineered high-tech material whose potential has not yet been fully exploited. So, besides some concrete technological aspects also several design prospects are not cleared definitely, among others the influence of the rebar position on the bond properties. This paper outlines the experimental programme and its results on the bond behaviour of conventional rebars in high-strength concrete. In this study, the hardened concrete properties and the bond behaviour were experimentally investigated at 3, 28 and 56 days.
