Experimental study on shear behaviour of prestressed SFRC beams
The possibility of substituting traditional transverse reinforcement (stirrups) with steel fibers in precast elements can provide significant improvements of the structural performance. In the present paper, the shear behavior of prestressed elements has been investigated by means of experimental tests on full scale beams. Tests concern beams with traditional reinforcement as well as beams with fiber reinforcement. Experimental results show that the shear performance of fiber reinforced concrete beams without traditional reinforcement is similar, or even better, than that of beams with traditional reinforcement. When used in beams with traditional reinforcement, steel fibers significantly improve their shear strength.
