Study on a type of reinforced bar transmitting force's joint of composite beam and continuous compound spiral hoop reinforced concrete column
A new type of joint of steel-concrete composite beam and continuous compound spiral hoop re-inforced concrete column is presented. The joint is constructed such that the reinforced bars in the negative moment zone in the composite beam is linked up and the steel beam part of the composite beam is connected by straight reinforced bars and X shape reinforced bars. This type of joint is explicit in force transmission and convenient in pouring the core zone concrete. X shape reinforced bars is able to overcome the bond slippage between bar and concrete. In order to study seismic behavior and failure mechanism of the joint, the quasi-static test was carried out on full-scale specimens. The test result indicates that the plastic hinge at the beam end was formed before failure. The joint' s strength, ductility and hysteretic behavior were analyzed, and results indicate that the joint has excellent energy dissipation capability. The bearing capacity formula of the core zone is presented according to the test.
