Improvement of surface cleaning properties in solvent-based wood coatings
The silicone modified OH-functional polyacrylate shows in various solvent-based wood coatings (2 pack PU and acid curing systems) excellent improvement of the surface cleaning properties. This was found soon alter application (24 hours at 20 deg C) as well as alter weathering by UV light. Especially after weathering the easy cleaning properties are improved against conventional additives. The necessary amount of active substance is 0.25% of component A of the 2 pack PU coatings. An increase of the additive dosage can have negative impact on the easy cleaning properties. The long-term easy cleaning effect is depending on the used resin and hardener, where branched polyesters bearing hydroxy groups and polyester polyols show better results than hydroxyl-bearing polyacrylates due to low cross-linking rates.
