Ultrasonic defectoscopy of concrete by means of pulse-echo technique
In this article the basic stages of the development of ultrasonic pulse echo method with reference to the resting of products and constructions from concrete are enunciated. Also main results of the researches are given, which allowed the creation of practical pulse echo equipment with liquid and dry ultrasonic contact. Most essential attention is paid to the technique of dry point contact, i.e. to ultrasonic probes with the dry point contact (DPC), to advantages of using the shear waves instead of longitudinal waves and to the features of devices with DPC. Ultrasonic probes with DPC are solving the problem of maintenance of ultrasonic contact through the fluid and enabling the usage of shear waves. For the flaw detection of concrete with echo method it is better to use shear waves, than longitudinal waves. Signal-noise-ratio is approximately 10 dB higher. The echo pulse equipment with DPC, working with the help of shear waves, is simple in operation and can be applied in field environment.
