Variable speed pumping for submersible wastewater pumping systems
Methods enabling a pumping system to operate at variable speds are described. The most common methods of achieving variable speed in a submersible wastewater pumping systems are through the use of two-speed motors or variable speed electrical drive components. The advantages of variable speed pumping are outlined: energy savings, less on/off cycling, less wear, minimized water hammer, reduced curretnt inrush, improved power and lower demand charges. Ways in which the system designer or end user can obtain optimal efficiency and effectiveness are discussed.
