The fire behaviour improvement of products forms a major research axis in electrical cable industry. The applications concern today large fields like High Voltage links, and Optical Fiber cables. In each case, it is necessary to adapt the cable conception and the sheathing material formulation to answer to the customer's requirements. On this base, it is now possible to propose cables which offer better safety for people and goods, by lowering fire propagation, but also side effects like smoke opacity and gas toxicity.
