Physical and mechanical properties of cement with waste ground clay brick as partial cement replacement
This paper discusses the performance of Portland cement with 10 % to 30 % partial cement replacement with waste ground clay brick. Two different bricks were used. Normal consistency, setting time, and compressive and flexural strengths of cement mortar up to 90 days of age were studied. The effect of wet curing time on gorund bricks was also investigated. The results suggested that fired clay brick could provide a valuable source of mineral replacement of cement. The optimum level of cement replacement seems to be 15 %.
