Size effect on mechanical properties of fine grained concrete matrices
The mechanical properties of the fine grained concrete matrices used in textile reinforced elements are Input parameters for analytical and numerical modelling of the new composite. As textile reinforced structures often show a wall thickness of about 10 mm only, appropriate specimen sizes and testing procedures have to be defined. The objective of this paper is to show the development of an experimental testing method to determine the compressive strength of Small-sized specimens with a high accuracy regarding specimen length, plane parallelism and evenness. Appropriate formworks were developed and subsequent co-ordinate measuring techniques were used to approve of the high accuracy. Size effects were analysed by investigating the influence of specimen size (d = 10, 20, and 40 mm) and geometry (h/d = 1, 2, and 4) an the compressive strengths.
