Amino alcohol based mixed corrosion inhibitors
: The objective of this paper is to present new results and sum up the behaviour of mixed corrosion inhibitors based on amino alcohols (AMA). These inhibitors can be used as concrete admixtures or in repair products to delay the onset of corrosion and/or to reduce the rate of corrosion of reinforcing steel in concrete structures. The corrosion-inhibiting properties are documented both, in solution and in concrete. The interaction mechanism of the inhibitors with a steel surface has been studied using surface analytical methods. The penetration of AMA based corrosion inhibitors can be shown. They delay the onset of corrosion and reduce the rate of corrosion. Apart from their application as a concrete admixture, they can be used as surfaceapplied inhibitors on existing concrete structures or in repair mortars.
