Fresh concrete properties and compressive strength development of HPC
In the EU Research Project, CONLIFE, there were produced a total of 66 mixtures, 22 in each of the 3 regions. This paper presents some results from fresh concrete properties and compressive strength development on HPC made on 22 mixtures by the Norwegian Building Research Institute on behalf of the Nordic region. Three basic mixtures were used in the project, with w/c of 0.30, 0.35 and 0.42, each with 7% silica fume. From these three basic mixtures, a defined amount (%) of cement was replaced with either silica fume (MS), blast furnace slag (BFS), or fly ash (FA). Among all mixtures, a consistent consistency of all mixes was fixed to be in the range of 460 t 20 mm for flow and greater than 160 t 30 mm for slump. For the air entrained mixes a target air pore content was 5 t 1 %. For the compressive strength, the target was a minimum 28 day compressive strength of 60 Mpa. For the Nordic region, a relatively high initial workability was observed for most mixtures, but also a high loss of workability was observed for nearly all mixtures. The mixtures with air entrainment agent had an air content between 4,5 and 6,3 % in the fresh concrete. All mixes fulfilled the compressive strength target (60 MPa) at the age of 28 days.
