Application of chrome-free magnesia-spinel Bricks in the burning zone of cement rotary kilns
With the goal of establishing all chrome-free brick linings in every cement rotary kiln at the earliest stage, the application of chrome-free bricks has been accelerated. As mentioned above a chrome-free brick B, which was developed Asahi Glass, has been used successfully together with the formerly developed brick A. At present, March 2003, the developed chrome-free bricks have been put into operation in about 600 rings. On the other hand, accompanying the increase of industrial wastes introduced into cement rotary kilns, the durability of brick linings has decreased due to wear patterns that are different from the conventional ones. Generally speaking, industrial waste contains various substances that are generated in a particular location with intermittent supply. Therefore, it is not considered practical to develop a single refractory brick to serve in all situations. In order to maximize the brick durability it is considered to be important not only to develop an improved brick itself, but also to rely on the progress of various kinds of technology to deal with the wastes concerned. Hereafter. the campaign to make all chrome-free bricks and the improvement of chrome-free refractory durability are to be promoted.
