Evaluation of foam/single and multiple layer Nomex fabric combinations in the cone calorimeter
The effect of using multiple layers of the same fabric i.e. Nomex in the foam/fabric combination has been investigated using cone calorimetry. The fabric layers used reduce the peak heat release rate (PHRR) of the foam considerably. The delayed ignition and reduced PHRR with the increase in fabric layers in the foam/fabric combination is due to the reduced rate of heating. Carbon monoxide increases while carbon dioxide decreases with the increase in fabric layers in the foam/fabric combination.
