Application of petrography for determining the quality of concrete cured in tropical environment
This paper presents the results of a study on the application of petrographic and chemical techniques for determining the quality of concrete cured in tropical environment. Concretes with water-to-cement ratios (w/c) of 0.30 to 0.70 with an increment of 0.10 were made and cured at 35 and 20 degree C, and exposed to different durations of moist curing. The results suggest that most of the petrographic and chemical methods can be used for estimation of w/c and cement content for hardened concrete cured in tropical environment with acceptable accuracy.
