Inertial effects on dislocation damping under cyclic loading with ultra-high frequencies
The frequency-dependent mechanical loss occurring at the oscillation of a single dislocation under an applied cyclic stress with frequencies in the MHz-GHz range is investigated by a discrete dislocation dynamics simulation and by analytical treatment. With the help of an analytical solution, an influence parameter for the occurrence of inertial effects is derived.
