The place of concrete in sustainable civil engineering in Poland
The comments presented constitute a certain random mixture of information emphasising the significance of concrete and showing how important its rational manufacture and application really are. This is presented from the point of view of Polish engineers and researchers. In many fields of civil engineering we could not even contemplate the absence of concrete. It makes possible the execution of many daunting structures and at the same time ensures their safety and reliability - in the widest meaning of these words. Two selected fields of recent research works in Poland have been described a bit wider as examples of appreciation of concrete role in the sustainable development. The commonness of usage of concrete, apart from the manifold significance of this material for humanity, is decisive for its considerable importance for the strategy of sustainable development.
