Reply to the discussion by P.E. Grattan-Bellew of the review paper "alkali-aggregate reaction in concrete containing high alkali cement and granite aggregate"
The hypothesis of P.E. Gratten-Bellow is presented. The hypothesis explains the course of linear expansion curve of concrete bars. They noted simultaneous formation of the secondary ettringite accompanying AAR concretes matured in field conditions. Some of the researchers have reported that AAR is often accompanied by the formation of the secondary ettringite, however the cause of the effect is still not been found.
