Applications of magnetoelastic sensors for force measurement in large bridge cables
This paper is focused on the applications of EM sensor on cable force measurement for large bridges. Calibration of EM sensors in-situ has been investigated. Magnetoelastic characterization of the field material to be measured could be done in the laboratory or in the field. The same type material of smaller size, such as a small wire is able to predict the calibration parameters of the same material in large scale. Temperature effect and its compensation have been discussed in this paper. EM sensor network has been deployed in QianJiang No.4 Bridge to monitor the stresses of key post-stress tendons and hangers.
